Glasgow) - RAF Regiment. Taken off by HMS Panther. Taken to Oran.
Vernon Minton (York) - 2nd Parachute Regiment. Last man to leave Strathallan.
Volunteered to go below to check for survivors.
John McGregor (Inverkeithing Fifeshire) - RASC. Picked up by HMS Pathfinder.
Transferred to SS Strathmore. Taken to Algiers.
Mrs. MD Asher (Dunoon Argyll) - Queen Alexandra's Military Nursing
Service Lifeboat sank. It was in the water for hours, a sailor forgot
to put in the bung. Incredible!. Rescued by HMS Folkstone.
Mr. JG Trotter (Sydenham London) - Royal Naval Commando. On troopship
SS Dunnotar Castle sailing behind the Strathallan on route to North Africa.
Roddy Girvan (Campbelltown Argyll) - Crew member of HMS Restive who took
SS Strathallan in tow and let go when she capsized.
James Hainey (Dumbarton) Crew
member of Troopship SS Dunotter Castle in convoy. Passed by Strathallan
after torpedo struck but could not stop.
Robert Smith (East Kilbride Glasgow)
- DEMS Gunner on board SS Strathmore. On previous convoy to Algiers. Went
into Barrow-in-Furness for repair or would have been on Strathallan convoy.
Robert supplied beautiful print of Strathmore.
Mrs. Christine Patterson (Kingussie Invernesshire) - Father Robert Innes
deceased RAF Regiment on Strathallan. Told his daughter of the long hours
in water by Queen Alexandra's Nurses.
George Garside (Leeds Yorkshire)
- Father was on convoy. Deceased 1972 cancer. Story written by son Andrew.
Thomas Wishart (Greenock Scotland)
has an account by regimental friend who was on the ill fated convoy and
quote "Lived to fight another day"
William Mathieson (Airdrie Scotland) - While not directly involved in
the Strathallan Story but gave invaluable research.
Angus MacKinnon (Troon Ayrshire) - Gave the most extraordinary account
of the Strathallan, sister ships and the U562 submarine that sank her.

Molly Skynn - Queen Alexandra's Nurses. Molly was in the 1st Army as a theatre sister. Fell out of her lifeboat and spent several hours in the water before being fished out. A non swimmer to this day. She was with the 1st across North Africa into Egypt and up through Italy. She was also one of the sisters who was at Monte Casino. Leonard Shuttleworth - 26th Armoured Brigade Called up in April 1942 and following basic training embarked on The Strtathallan at Greenock.
